SKP-27 Colloidal Silica is an alkaline, aqueous dispersion of colloidal silica with a silica (SiO2) content of approximately 27-30% by weight and an average particle size ranging from 10 to 15 nm. The silica particles undergo surface modification using amino-based polymers. The dispersion has a pH value between 10 and 11. SKP-27 appears as a translucent liquid, slightly more viscous than water.

SKP-27 is a specialist product specifically designed for use in the surface layer of the investment casting process. It addresses various challenges encountered in the shell-making process, such as rapid slurry aging, demanding drying requirements, and poor surface quality of the shell mold cavity. The polymer layer of SKP-27 enhances the stability of the colloidal silica, prevents agglomeration, and further improves the surface absorption of the silica. This results in improved coating and leveling properties of the prepared slurry.
