In a clinical trials of 60 type-II diabetes mellitus patients, HbA1c decreased by 0.4% point (from7.8 ± 0.5 to7.4 ± 0.6; P<0.01). Compared to the starting levels (210 ± 49 mg/dL), PPPG in the experimental group progressively decreased with treatment duration, indicating that M. oleifera medication can induce better glucose tolerance.<br />

Clinical trials involving 55 type-2 diabetes patients, concluded that M. oleifera has an anti-diabetic activity. There was a significant reduction in fasting blood glucose (p<0.01). A significant reduction in the mean blood lipid levels of the subjects was also observed.<br />

The potential anti-dyslipidemic effect of M. oleifera was studied in 35 hyperlipidemic subjects. Compared to the control group,the experimental group experienced a 1.6% fall in plasma TC (P <0.05) and a 6.3% increase of HDL-C . Relative to baseline, final non-HDL-C and TC/HDL- C values were decreased, indicating that the treatment induced a less eratherogenic lipid profile.<br />
