Description
Tetrafluoromethane (CF4) is a colorless, non-flammable gas. As a compressed gas at room temperature, CF4 is one of the most stable organic compounds. At 900°C, CF4 does not react with copper, nickel, tungsten, or molybdenum, but decomposes slowly only at carbon arc temperatures. When burned with flammable gases, it decomposes to produce toxic fluorides. At high temperatures, the pressure inside the container increases, posing a risk of cracking and explosion.
