Description
Cotton is a fiber obtained from the white or whitish fruits of some species of the genus Gossypium, family Malvaceae. There are many species native to the tropical areas of Africa, Asia and America, and since the end of the last Ice Age tissues were already made with cotton. Currently, only four species are exploited on a large scale for making fabrics and medical instruments. The fibers are collected manually or with the aid of machines. Since the manual way of collection is usually done in the tree and brings much more a product free of impurities. In one way or another, the fibers often contain small triangular black seeds that need to be extracted before the processing of the fibers. The fibers are, in fact, originate from the hair surface of the seeds themselves. These seeds are still utilized to obtain an edible oil. In the first 28 days after flower opening, said cells grow rapidly in length, up to 91\% of the length. Then the growth of 9\% final becomes slow and stabilizes around 47-51 days of flowering. At 21 days, the cell wall comes down, basically, and cuticle layer, thin cellulose.
