1.4542, also known as 17-4 PH (precipitation hardening type), is a martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel widely used due to its high strength, good corrosion resistance, and versatility. It is suitable for numerous industries, including aerospace (for manufacturing components requiring high strength and corrosion resistance, such as turbine parts and fasteners); marine engineering (for manufacturing valves, pumps, and shafts); medical technology (for manufacturing surgical instruments and implants due to its good biocompatibility); mechanical engineering; the chemical industry; and power generation (especially for manufacturing corrosion-resistant components in power plants and turbines).
