If you’re feeling inspired with all the new hour record attempts the pros are

making, and want to ramp up your own track credentials, then you could not pick

a better disc wheel than the Mavic Comete Track Tubular Disc wheel. It is the

sort of wheel that makes pros wish they weren’t tied to using their sponsor’s

stuff, unless of course they are lucky enough to be sponsored by Mavic.

The rim body itself is made from 6106 aluminum. Mavic has made sure to keep the

rim strong and secure by using their SUP joint technology. This welding method

keeps the rim joint stronger and smoother. After the rim is bent into shape,

the joint is arc welded and then that seam is milled for a flush, almost

imperceptible finish. But the bread and butter of any disc wheel is the disc.

Here Mavic uses high modulus carbon fiber in a unidirectional and honeycomb

weave. The symmetrical convex lenticular walls have been fashioned to provide

exceptional aerodynamics and unparalleled rigidity so that you will have

perfect power transmission with every pedal stroke. With the lenticular shape,

you get a much better aero result, since at certain yaw angles the wheel acts

as a sail, pushing you along.
