Tucumã butter is extracted from the almond of the tucumanzeiro fruit, a common species in the middle and upper Amazon River.
Tucumã (Astrocaryum aculeatum), acaiúra, acuiuru, coconut-tucumã, tucum, tucumã-açu, tucumã-arara, tucum-açu, tucumaí-da-terra-firme, tucumãí-uaçu, tucumã-piririca, tucumã-purupuru or tucum-do-mato is a palm tree that measures up to 15 meters, usually solitary, with bands of black thorns, ascending leaves, erect inflorescence and yellow fruits with reddish tones.
