Fischer Tropsch wax (FT wax) is a synthetic wax produced by the polymerization of carbon monoxide and hydrogen under high pressure, a technology used in the emerging natural Gas to Liquid (GTL) projects. The hydrocarbon product of the FT reaction is distilled to separate the mix into fuel products and waxes with melting points ranging from about 33 - 115ºC.
HCI’s refined cut Fischer Tropsch waxes are insoluble in water, have high melting points and narrow carbon distributions, good stability, and oxidative resistance. As they are coal-to-liquid products, they are almost free of sulfur, nitrogen compounds, aromatics, and heavy metals and comply with FDA regulations.
