As a non-toxic, mild surfactant with soft and moisturizing functions, amine oxide has aroused the interest of the daily chemical industry and is used to prepare shampoos, bath soaps and dishwashing detergents. Shampoo is an important application area for amine oxide, which thickens products, has a good pearlescent effect and solubilizes fragrances. Amine oxide as an ingredient shampoo can make hair soft and smooth, and can reduce the irritation of some medications. This is because amine oxide can directly interact with the hydroxyl groups on the hair and skin at a certain pH. The long-chain alkyl part of amine oxide imparts softness, eliminates static electricity in the hair, makes it easy to comb, and can also give the hair a jet-black and shiny effect. Although cationic surfactants can also bind to the hydroxyl groups on the hair and skin horns and play a role in combing, softening and reducing static electricity, it is more irritating to the eyes and skin, and long-term use will lead to excessive degreasing of the hair and skin, and it is not compatible with the large amount of anionic surfactants used in shampoos. Liquid bath soap with amine oxide can improve the roughness of the skin, because amine oxide has excellent foaming and foaming stabilizing effects. It has been reported that to obtain a comparable foam stabilization capacity, the dosage of amine oxide should be one-third of that of alkanolamidide. The amine oxide produces a delicate, creamy foam that is non-irritating to the eyes and skin, making these properties particularly suitable for the preparation of baby bath soaps. In solution, when it is used in conjunction with AES, it has a synergistic effect, resulting in a significant increase in the overall washing effect.
Preparation method:
1. Amine oxide is prepared by direct oxidation of air or oxygen, and tertiary amine is prepared by oxidant oxidation, and there are two synthesis process routes. The reaction formula is as follows: R1R2R3N+O2→R1R2R3N→O oxygen or air is put into an autoclave with water, alcohol solvent and tertiary amine, and the reaction can be carried out at 100-150 °C and 15-70MPa for 16-64h to obtain amine oxide products with a content of 30%-80%.
2. The reaction formula prepared with nitric peroxide or peroxide organic acid as an oxidant is as follows: R1R2R3N+H2O2→R1RChemicalbook2R3N→O tertiary amine dissolved in water (or alcohol solvent), and a small amount of citric acid and disodium EDTA are added. Raise the temperature to 60-70 °C, add an excess of 30% hydrogen peroxide dropwise to keep the reaction lh, then continue to heat up to 75-80 °C for 3h, cool down to 60 °C, add the calculated sodium bisulfite to decompose the residual oxygen, and the liquid product with 30% active substance can be obtained by discharging. The conversion rate of tertiary amine can reach more than 98%. The addition of human citric acid as a hydrogen peroxide stabilizer and disodium EDTA as a metal ion conjugative agent, both also play a catalytic role to improve the conversion rate of tertiary amines.
