Polyester polyol is a type of polymer containing ester or carbonate groups, mainly composed of dicarboxylic acids and polyols, and is one of the core raw materials for synthesizing polyurethane. Its structure and application characteristics are as follows:
1、 Basic Definition and Classification
Definition
Polymers with ester or carbonate groups in their molecular chains are synthesized through esterification and condensation reactions between polyacids (such as adipic acid and phthalic acid) and polyols (such as ethylene glycol and butanediol).
Classification
Aliphatic polyester polyols, such as adipic acid based polyester diols, have excellent comprehensive properties and are used in elastomers, adhesives, shoe soles, etc.
Aromatic polyester polyol: containing benzene ring structure (such as phthalic anhydride polyester polyol), which endows products with heat resistance, flame retardancy and high mechanical strength, and is suitable for rigid foam plastics.
Special types: including polycaprolactone polyols, polycarbonate diols, etc.
2、 Preparation process
Mainstream methods:
Vacuum melting method: Dibasic acids and polyols are esterified at atmospheric pressure of 140-230 ℃, and then dehydrated and condensed under vacuum.
Carrier gas melting method: introducing inert gas (such as nitrogen) to remove the water generated by the reaction.
Azeotropic distillation method: Add solvents such as toluene for azeotropic dehydration.
Key indicators: hydroxyl value, acid value, moisture content, viscosity, and molecular weight directly affect product quality.
