Description
Wawa choy, literally baby vegetable, are early harvest baby Napa cabbages. These young heads of cabbage have a similar flavor to their adult counterparts with a sweeter, milder flavor and mot tender leaves. Wawa choy is often interchangeable with napa cabbage but not vice versa.
The Chinese cabbage occurs in both annual and biennial forms but is cultivated as an annual. It forms an upright head of either tightly overlapping leaves or sometimes a looser head of more separated leaves. Shape and size differ markedly between cultivars and head weight may vary between 1.4 and 4.5 kg.
In terms of taste, Napa cabbage tends to be milder and sweeter, while green cabbage has a stronger, more peppery flavor. Additionally, Napa cabbage is commonly used in Asian cuisine, while green cabbage is more prevalent in Western dishes
