1.2738 tool steel is a pre-hardened alloy tool steel that conforms to German standards.

It contains molybdenum and nickel as strengthening elements, and compared to 1.2311 and other similar grades, it has relatively superior mechanical properties.

1.2738 is specifically designed for plastic injection molds. The material's characteristics are good machinability, high purity of the die steel, and uniform hardness.
1.2738 is an upgraded version of 1.2311 tool steel, typically supplied in a pre-hardened condition. The hardness in the supplied condition is 280-320 HB, and the hardness is uniform. The 1% external inclusion content has improved its toughness.

It has good machinability, suitable for machining, can be finely ground, and has sufficient toughness, making it a true vacuum degassing steel.
