Multi-purpose gantry cranes are equipped with different loading and unloading accessories and corresponding additional devices according to their needs, and can be used for container and bulk cargo loading and unloading operations. Electromagnetic suction cups can also be configured to load and unload scrap steel. When carrying out container operations, the center of gravity of the container can be kept horizontally displaced throughout the entire amplitude change process, which is conducive to the container entering and exiting the container ship grid rail and stacking operations. When the crane rotates, the spreader has the ability to rotate in the opposite direction synchronously to ensure that the longitudinal horizontal axis of the container is always parallel to the crane track. It is convenient for container alignment and can effectively improve the efficiency of loading and unloading containers.
Performance parameters:
(1) Lifting capacity. The lifting capacity of a multi-purpose gantry crane is required to meet the requirements of loading and unloading 20-foot and 40-foot containers. Therefore, the lifting capacity should be the sum of the maximum total mass of the container and the mass of the spreader. At present, the lifting capacity of a multi-purpose gantry crane is 40 tons.
(2) Lifting height. The lifting height includes the sum of the lifting height above the rail surface and the lifting height below the rail surface. The lifting height above the rail surface is determined by the height at which the hoisting device can safely pass through the top of the high container space of a fully loaded container ship when the dock is at high water level. The lifting height below the rail surface is determined by the distance from the top of the crane track to the bottom of the cargo hold of a fully loaded ship when the dock is at low water level.
(3) Amplitude. The amplitude of a multi-purpose gantry crane refers to the maximum distance between the crane's rotation center and the center of the hoist (hook): the plumb line. The amplitude is determined by the ship's width, the crane's rotation center, the distance from the center of the outer track to the dock's front quay wall, etc.
For multi-purpose gantry cranes with large track gauges, in order to reduce their ineffective amplitude, the rotation center is designed to be offset a certain distance toward the waterside track.
(4) Track gauge. Track gauge refers to the horizontal distance between the center lines of the crane's trolley travel track. The size of the track gauge affects the wheel pressure and stability of the crane. When determining the track gauge size, the dock's front loading and unloading process plan and the dock foundation bearing capacity must be considered.
(5) Working speed. The working speed should be determined according to the required productivity, but the actual productivity depends not only on the working speed of the crane, but also on the production conditions and the operating level of the driver. The working speeds of multi-purpose portal cranes include lifting speed, slewing speed, luffing speed and trolley running speed. For portal cranes with large lifting heights, the unloaded lifting speed is generally twice the full-load lifting speed.
